No. Every domain starts at 0, and the scale is logarithmic: the first ten points take a few real links, the last ten take thousands. A small indie project with a handful of genuine mentions usually lands in the teens.
Measure yourself against projects your size, not against a brand.
Traffic, revenue, content quality, and whether Google trusts you. Two sites with the same DR can rank worlds apart. Use it as one signal for which links are worth earning, never as a grade for the site.
Earn links from real sites in your field: a launch that gets written up, a tool people cite, a guest post, a directory that curates instead of listing everyone. One link from a strong, relevant site moves DR more than fifty from weak ones.
Buying links or trading them in bulk is the fast way to a penalty, not to a higher number.
