Antje Farnier, Ph.D. ชอบสิ่งนี้Happy, honored, and excited to be part of this beautiful project from the beginning. Thank you Jennifer Gaskins, PhD, (former colleague and current boss), for having me onboard the first magazine, entirely paper and entirely for children, I know of!Antje Farnier, Ph.D. ชอบสิ่งนี้On the 1st of April of this year, I started Radicle Creative Works SL here in Barcelona. It was me, a tax ID, and a plan. Today, exactly six months later, Issue 1 of Ripple Magazine goes to the printer. I came into this from physics and data science, as a parent of an almost 6-year old. Six months ago I didn't know about the limits of a child's working memory at different developmental stages, about magazine grid systems, or what 'i's have to be dotted and 't's crossed for a magazine to clear customs in the UK without getting stuck. I still don't know a lot of things. But I know more than I did, and most of what I now know I learned from the talented people I brought on to this project. I also had an incredible amount of fun, and the people I worked with were a big part of that. I owe special thanks to our Art Director, Ondřej Fučík, for his generosity in teaching me about design principles as he shaped Ripple into an exciting, innovative, and beautiful object, and for his good humour throughout the process. I'm grateful for Ondřej and 17 more collaborators -- a brand strategist, an educator, writers, illustrators, a copy editor, a proofreader, and a layout designer -- who turned an idea into 48 pages I'm proud to put in a child's hands. Antje Farnier, Ph.D. แสดงความรู้สึกต่อสิ่งนี้Antje Farnier, Ph.D. แสดงความรู้สึกต่อสิ่งนี้I’m honored to receive the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award, recognizing excellence in teaching and mentorship. A special thank-you to Camille Petit, my former student, for nominating me. Camille, your thoughtful gesture makes this recognition particularly meaningful. Being remembered by a former student is a powerful reminder of why this work matters. At the heart of my teaching is a desire to help students develop curiosity, confidence, and the ability to think independently. I like to call this "intellectual sovereignty": the ability to question, form their own judgments, and take ownership of their learning. Thank you to the University of Chicago for this recognition, and to my students and colleagues at the International School of Boston for the ongoing stimulating conversations and shared experiences that continue to enrich my teaching. It is an honor and a privilege to teach at the International School of Boston, where students and teachers are encouraged to grow and reach their full potential.

Antje Farnier, Ph.D. แสดงความรู้สึกต่อสิ่งนี้Antje Farnier, Ph.D. แสดงความรู้สึกต่อสิ่งนี้What can change in just one year. One year ago, my life looked completely different. In September 2025, I was attending my voluntary social year at the Musik- und Kunstschule Havelland while preparing for my first Musical Theatre entrance examination. My life revolved around singing, dancing, acting, rehearsals, and performances. I still love musical theatre, the creativity behind it, and the incredible people who dedicate their lives to it. Yet something didn't feel right. I was constantly stressed, exhausted, and getting sick all the time. Then came my entrance examination at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding. I walked out of that room and realized: I don't want to do this for the rest of my life. Not because I stopped loving it, but because I realized that loving something doesn't necessarily mean it has to become your profession. At the same time, my voluntary social year showed me another side of myself. I loved organizing projects, creating content, and bringing ideas to life. That's why I chose to study Business Administration: not to leave creativity behind, but to combine creativity, communication, marketing, and business. Fast forward to March 2026. I started my studies at the FS Business School - Hochschule München. One month later, I joined Microsoft as a Business Program Management Intern and had the privilege of becoming the first student worker at the #ECEMEA. Microsoft has shaped me both professionally and personally more than I could have imagined a year ago. This experience showed me how much growth is possible when people trust you and give you opportunities. A huge thank you to Gertrud Goor, Lisa Deis, Christopher Anton, Dorottya Vadas, Hosam El Kamash, Maximilian Krause and Lisa Pollin for your trust, support, and everything I learned from you. A special thank you to Jens Geiger, MSc, who challenged me, trusted me, and gave me opportunities to learn and grow from day one. What makes me especially proud is how much I changed as a person. Before moving to Munich, I felt like I was constantly getting sick. Since March, I haven't really been sick once. I also realized that my creative background wasn't something I had to leave behind. My theatre experience still helps me every day, and I'm grateful that musical theatre can remain part of my life as a hobby. At the end of September, my journey as a Microsoft Student Worker comes to an end. Well... almost. I'm excited to continue my journey at Microsoft through Sodexo for the next six months and to see what new opportunities, projects, and experiences lie ahead. Looking back, I learned that changing your plans doesn't mean giving up on your dreams. Sometimes it simply means redefining them. That's why I'll continue believing in a mantra that has guided me through this entire journey: Everything happens for a reason. Keep your Growth Mindset. You never know how much can change in just one year. ❤️ #GrowthMindset #Microsoft #ECEMEA #PersonalGrowth #CareerJourney

Antje Farnier, Ph.D. แสดงความรู้สึกต่อสิ่งนี้Antje Farnier, Ph.D. แสดงความรู้สึกต่อสิ่งนี้Today was my last day with the #SAP Cloud Logging team. But I am neither leaving SAP nor observability. I have already contributed to SAP's observability architecture work stream for the past 5 years, an effort that I will now join full time. I am looking back to almost a decade building and operating logging services for SAP #BAIP first built on an #ELK stack and later using #OpenSearch. I fondly remember introducing Kafka 1.0 as a durable buffer in the pipeline, a deployment I recently upgraded to Kafka 4.3. One of the major successes our team achieved during that time was the creation of SAP #CloudLogging. This externally available service is currently growing towards 20k instances providing tight integration with SAP BAIP and #OpenTelemetry support. In my new role I will retain my ability to engage with the open source community, the OpenSearch Software Foundation in particular. I am looking forward to this next chapter.

🚀 DeepSeek-OCR: More Than OCR — The Future of AI Context Compression When DeepSeek released DeepSeek-OCR, most assumed it was another step in text recognition. But what it’s really doing is far more profound — redefining how AI systems represent and remember information. By compressing 1,000 text tokens into just 100 vision tokens with ~97% accuracy, DeepSeek-OCR isn’t just reading documents — it’s teaching AI how to store meaning efficiently. This breakthrough changes everything about context, memory, and reasoning in large-scale AI systems. At SimplAI, our agents are already built for this new world: 🧠 Vision Agents that interpret document layouts 🔤 Text Agents that extract and align context 🧩 Structure Agents that preserve hierarchy 💬 Reasoning Agents that connect meaning ⚡ Compression Agents — inspired by DeepSeek — that store context compactly for long-term recall Together, these create an adaptive ecosystem where AI learns when to “see” visually and when to “reason” textually — balancing compression with comprehension. The takeaway? The future of document AI isn’t about reading text better — it’s about remembering meaning more efficiently. 👉 Read the full blog to see how DeepSeek-OCR reshapes context, compression, and AI memory — and why SimplAI Agents are ready for it. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g_8dvbDU #AgenticAI #SimplAI #DeepSeekOCR #AIagents #ContextCompression #GenerativeAI #VisionAI #EnterpriseAI

The authors present GeoVista, a novel agentic model designed to tackle geolocalization — the task of determining where on Earth a given image was taken — by combining visual reasoning with web tool-use. They note that most existing agentic visual models focus on image manipulation rather than broader reasoning, and geolocalization tasks require both fine visual grounding (e.g., recognising landmarks, terrain, vegetation) and external knowledge to confirm hypotheses. To fill this gap they introduce a benchmark called GeoBench, which includes high-resolution photos, panoramas and satellite views across global regions to test agentic models in a more challenging setting. The benchmark specifically emphasises multi-scale and multi-modal inputs. GeoVista integrates an image zoom-in tool (to magnify regions of interest) and a web search tool (to retrieve associated information) within its reasoning loop. The authors train the model first via supervised fine-tuning (SFT) to learn tool-use and reasoning patterns, followed by reinforcement learning (RL) guided by a hierarchical reward structure which reflects multi-level geographical correctness (e.g., continent → country → city). The experiments demonstrate that GeoVista significantly surpasses other open-source agentic models on the GeoBench benchmark, and attains performance comparable to leading closed-source models such as Gemini‑2.5‑flash and GPT‑5 on many metrics. The work suggests that tool-augmented agentic visual models hold strong promise for complex real-world spatial reasoning tasks. https://lnkd.in/gCE6VJW6

🤓 You may be confident in semantic modeling – but that doesn’t mean your whole team is. When building, you may want to ask others to contribute to the model who have less or even zero technical knowledge, like domain experts. Having beginner-friendly resources at hand makes collaboration less intimidating for knowledge-graph newcomers and saves everyone's time (especially yours). 🙌 ✨Our Semantic Modeling Guidelines cover all the basic “need to knows”. 💬 Yann LeCun: “LLMs aren’t a bubble — our expectations are.” According to Meta’s chief AI scientist, the current wave of large language models is not an investment bubble. These systems already have strong practical value and will continue to deliver real-world impact. The real “bubble,” he argues, lies in the belief that scaling LLMs alone will lead to human-level intelligence (AGI). True progress will require new conceptual breakthroughs, not just more data and bigger clusters. > “We’re missing something fundamental.” — Yann LeCun #AI #DeepLearning #LLM #YannLeCun #AGI #MachineLearning #AIResearch #MetaAI

🚀 Big win for anyone doing RAG with tabular data - TableChunker from Chonkie One of the biggest hurdles in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has always been handling large markdown tables without breaking their structure. No more broken tables. No more context loss. Just clean, structured chunks your model can actually understand. This is one of those “quiet but massive” fixes that make RAG actually work for enterprise-scale structured data. 💥 #RAG #AI #LLMs #DataEngineering #NLP #RetrievalAugmentedGeneration #Chonkie #llm #genai #ai #artificialintelligence

At NeurIPS 2025, clear signals emerged at the edges of consensus—shaping AI’s next cycle: 1️⃣ Scaling still works—but it’s no longer the whole story ⚙️ More data + more compute still buy performance. That remains the dominant industry path. But attention is shifting to smarter scaling: higher-quality synthetic data, better RL exploration, and post-training techniques that allow smaller models to punch above their weight. Post-training is now the main battleground. The focus isn’t raw capability, but making models more usable, controllable, and deployable in real environments. 2️⃣ Data, not compute, is the real bottleneck 🧩 Compute can be replicated with capital. High-quality data cannot. Human-generated data is finite. Synthetic data helps—but only if you already have strong teacher models. That’s not accessible to most teams. What’s emerging instead: Smarter synthetic pipelines that trade diversity for quality Structured data generation that expands coverage of the long tail A shift toward data created through exploration, not passive collection The frontier data of the future doesn’t exist yet—it has to be produced. 3️⃣ RL and agents: progress, but still far from “general” 🧠 RL is everywhere, especially in post-training. Generalization is improving through better exploration and reward design. Abstraction is the hard part. Today’s agents still operate inside human-defined states, tasks, and time horizons. They don’t invent abstractions—or decide what to observe. Until models become active learners rather than passive ones, “general agents” remain aspirational. 4️⃣ LLMs may not be the final form 🔄 There’s growing interest in new paradigms at the intersection of AI and neuroscience. Architecture, objectives, and learning rules may need to co-evolve—especially for long-term memory, online learning, and true generalization. 5️⃣ The real advantage is ecosystem density 🌐 Breakthroughs now require tight alignment between academia, industry, engineering, and capital. That feedback loop—not just talent—is the Bay Area’s real edge. 🚀 We’re entering an era of intelligent exploration. And the opportunity lies where today’s paradigm is constrained—and where those constraints are thinnest. #NeurIPS2025 #AGI #AIResearch #MachineLearning #RL #AITrends

How to trace hallucinations inside RAG systems Hallucinations in RAG setups often look like a surface problem — a model generating something that isn’t grounded in the retrieved context. But the real question is where inside the network this drift begins. Using Circuit Tracing, we can linearize transformer computations and build Attribution Graphs that map how internal features (neurons) influence each other. Each node represents an interpretable feature or token, and each edge shows how activation flows through the model. When applied to RAG, these graphs reveal a structural imbalance: as the model begins to rely more on its internal residual pathways and less on context-related features, influence weights shift away from retrieved tokens. That imbalance — visible directly in the graph — is the early signature of a hallucination. This approach reframes detection as mechanistic analysis rather than post-hoc classification, offering a way to study how factual drift arises within the model itself. At Cognia, we explore such interpretability tools to build more controllable and transparent AI systems.
