Exercise extreme caution with Hack The Box’s automatic subscription renewals!

I initially purchased a single-month VIP+ subscription back in August 2025. Unbeknownst to me, automatic renewal remained active, charging my payment method $25 USD every month.

Here are the key facts of my experience:

Complete Zero Activity: For 11 consecutive months (September 2025 to August 2026), I have NEVER logged into the account, launched a single lab, or consumed any platform resources. Their internal authentication logs can fully verify this total lack of activity.

Zero Infrastructure Cost: HTB incurred absolutely zero server or infrastructure costs on my behalf during this entire period.

Refusal of Fair Refund: When I noticed the charges and contacted their billing support, management strictly refused to refund these 11 unconsumed cycles ($200+ USD in total), hiding behind rigid terms of service while retaining money for services they NEVER actually provided or delivered.

Charging a customer $200+ USD for 11 months of complete zero platform utilization without sending advance pre-billing reminders is an appalling customer experience and an unfair billing practice.

I strongly advise everyone to avoid keeping saved payment credentials on this platform.

I had a very good experience regarding cancellation and refund. I was automatically charged for an annual subscription, but since, I was not planning to use the service, I immediately tried to contact the support via the chatbot. The cancelation and refund didn't took more than few minutes, I received an email containing the details and received a transaction back to my bank account immediately.

The online tech support team at HTB consistently surpasses my expectations with their kindness, attentiveness, and the exceptional solutions they offer.

Just like ''LetsDefend'' which is part of them now, the overall experience is fine, however, the problem is the pricing, it's quite expensive, not all their certificates are accredited (sure, some employers may use them, there are better options). Just be extremely careful when paying for a certification/path and make sure they are accredited before starting them (if that matters to you at least).

Just got a paid subscription, it was a great experience. There’s a lot of content and tons to do. I just wish I had more time. Team was very helpful even when I needed to cancel. Highly recommend their team and products.
