  • Ford Motor Company celebrates the life of Richard Manoogian, a trusted friend whose tireless devotion to Michigan and its people set a shining example of generosity and service. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and all who loved him. Richard was a leader and a devoted champion of Michigan. He believed deeply in the people and potential of this state and spent a lifetime helping it thrive. For nearly 15 years, Richard served on our board of directors, bringing steady judgment, deep loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to Ford and its people. But his contributions never stopped at the boardroom door. Through his leadership at Masco, his service to Detroit, and his generous support of the arts, education, and community, he helped build a Michigan whose promise more people could share. Richard led with integrity, kindness, and conviction. His devotion to family, friends, and community gave those values their fullest expression. He did more than believe in Michigan’s future. He gave his time, talent, and generosity to help build it. Michigan has lost a champion. Ford has lost a guiding light. We are grateful to have known him and proud to carry his example forward.

Getting people interested in skilled trades careers is only part of the challenge. Helping them finish the path matters, too.   The new State of America's Skilled Trades report found that while people are signing up for training programs, only 1 in 2 finishes.   For many students, the barrier isn't ability or ambition. It can be something as simple as getting to class, an apprenticeship or a training session, or keeping the car they already have running.   That's why wrap-around support matters. Transportation is a big piece, and an often-unseen barrier to finishing training. Ahead of ACCELERATE, Ford Philanthropy announced new partnerships in Detroit, Kansas City and Chicago focused on emergency car repairs for students enrolled in skilled trades training programs.   These partnerships build on progress this year, including a new partnership with Lyft to provide ride credits to SkillsUSA students and a new emergency transportation fund with Last Mile Education Fund.   The report gives us a clearer picture of the skilled trades gap. Closing it means helping more people find these careers and giving them the support they need to make it all the way through. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gaF4fXY5

Earlier this week, I stood alongside Jim Farley, Ruth Porat and Larry Fink at Ford’s Accelerate event in Michigan Central — a place built by the hands of skilled tradespeople — to talk about a challenge facing our country: we need more skilled trades workers to fill the jobs that are open today and meet growing demand in the years ahead. I left Ford Accelerate feeling hopeful. More voices are encouraging people to see the trades for what they are — meaningful careers with real opportunity. Organizations are stepping up to turn that growing respect into pathways to these careers. With 14 new partners joining the Alliance for Americas Skilled Trades— AT&T, Barton Malow, Blackstone, Cintas, DEWALT, Dycom Industries, Inc, The Hershey Company, ManpowerGroup, Meta, Microsoft, Milwaukee Tool, NVIDIA, Verizon, Waymo — we’re bringing together even more leading companies to build on the work underway and grow a movement that opens more doors to the skilled trades. The Alliance's new research with The Burning Glass Institute and Jobs for the Future (JFF) gives us a clearer picture of where we can make a difference — and where our resources can make the greatest impact. Explore the research at SkilledTradesReport.com. There's lot of work ahead, but we also know what hard work can make possible.

America needs people who know how to build things, fix things and make things work. Electricians. Technicians. Welders. Plumbers. Construction workers. Manufacturing experts. These careers matter. The people who do them matter. And America’s future depends on them. America is currently facing a skilled trades crisis: an estimated 2.1 million positions could go unfilled by 2030. Meanwhile, many young adults are unaware of how to pursue these careers. The issue isn’t a lack of demand or opportunity. It’s making sure the next generation knows where those opportunities are and how to get started.  That’s why Ford Motor Company is proud to be a founding partner in a new Ad Council effort with Dycom Industries, Inc, The Home Depot and the The Wallace Foundation to help more young people understand the opportunities available in the trades — and, just as importantly, how to get there. There are incredible careers available for people who want to work with their hands, solve real problems and build things that matter. We need these skills to build the future of America. And we need to do a much better job showing young people what’s possible. That’s my hope for this new campaign… to make these careers easier to see and easier to pursue. Derrick Feldmann, Managing Director at Ad Council Research Institute, wrote more about the launch of this campaign today on From the Road: https://lnkd.in/g-dg2xsC #EssentialEconomy #FordAccelerate #Accelerate2026 #SkilledTrades

  • The skilled trades gap is the biggest challenge facing the Essential Economy, and closing it is our greatest opportunity. That was the clear conclusion from the inaugural ACCELERATE the Essential Economy summit in 2025, which brought together business and government leaders to confront the issue head on. This year, ACCELERATE returns bigger, more interactive, and more data driven. The second annual summit will convene business and policy leaders, educators, small and mid-sized business owners, and Essential Economy workers to explore cross sector solutions to closing the trades gap. The result: action-oriented takeaways, new research, best practices, and an agenda to strengthen and grow the Essential Economy. The shortage of skilled trades workers is not a problem Ford Motor Company or any one company can solve alone. It's one we must solve together. That’s why I’m excited to share a new initiative Ford is launching alongside the State of Michigan, J.P. Morgan, Newlab and Michigan Central. The Michigan Launchpad for Industrial Innovation and Transformation – or Michigan LIFT – is designed to help innovative companies and technologies move more quickly from idea to production. It connects innovators, suppliers and manufacturers with the support they need to scale.  As we gather at #FordAccelerate this week to focus on practical solutions for America’s industrial future, Michigan LIFT is one example of how we're taking action to strengthen the Essential Economy and build a more resilient manufacturing base. This type of model demonstrates how by working together we can expand and scale our collective impact.  More details here: https://lnkd.in/gnU4HaXZ #Accelerate2026 #EssentialEconomy

Our vehicles run on electricity and gas but our interns? Coffee. ☕ Former marketing intern (and future full-time employee in our Ford College Graduate program!) Natalie Raab lets us tag along with her on a typical day this summer - after picking up her morning brew. Bonus: you’ll even get to see the inside of the iconic Michigan Central Station. You might not wake up excited about a service appointment. We’re working on that. Today, Ford Customer Service Division is launching it's "Real Parts. Real Pros. Real Easy." campaign with comedian Nate Bargatze, a guy who just sold over 2 million tickets on his last tour and set a Guinness World Record, but would be the first to tell you he’s no expert under the hood. That’s the whole point. Nate’s humor comes from a place of genuine, cheerful curiosity, not cluelessness. He couldn't tell you what a serpentine belt does, and he's completely at peace with that. It’s the kind of comedy that makes you feel seen rather than sold to. And in a category where trust is earned, that’s exactly where we needed to start. Backed by Ford Motor Company's factory-trained technicians, genuine Ford and Motorcraft® parts, the largest Mobile Service fleet in the U.S., and complimentary Pickup & Delivery, we make it easier than ever for our customers to keep their vehicles running the way they should, handling everything he can't. Grateful to the team and our agency partners who pushed for something different. Proud of what we built, and relieved Nate wasn’t asked to actually fix anything.
