We're excited to announce that Joe Huston has joined Coefficient Giving as Managing Director of Philanthropic Advisory! Joe joins us after ten years at GiveDirectly, where he started in its Kenya field operation before rising to Managing Director. During his tenure, GiveDirectly grew into one of the largest direct-giving organizations in the world — delivering more than $1 billion to over two million people living in poverty — and launched the world's largest and longest-running study of universal basic income, reaching more than 20,000 people across nearly 200 Kenyan villages. At Coefficient Giving, Joe will lead our Partnerships team and own our strategy for working with donors, deepening our work with those who already give through our multi-donor funds and expanding our advisory practice to offer tailored support to major philanthropists looking for an ambitious thought partner. We think the coming decade will bring an extraordinary amount of new philanthropic capital looking for direction, and few people are better placed than Joe to help it land well. Today we're launching the Health Aid Transition Fund: $165 million over the next few years to help low- and middle-income countries adapt their health systems amid rapidly declining aid: https://lnkd.in/gY3JxbqR Aid is dropping faster than at any point on record. Over the next two or three budget cycles, dozens of governments have to decide which donor-funded functions to absorb, which to cut, and how to deliver care with less. Those decisions will shape health systems for years. Philanthropy alone can't close a gap this size, but it can play a critical role in supporting these countries during a period of transition. The Health Aid Transition Fund aims to support the technical work that makes scarcer resources go further: cost analyses, financing strategy, and getting budgeted money out the door to clinics and suppliers. The Fund will also bridge critical programs through the handover where that unlocks aid that would otherwise go unspent. Amanda Glassman will lead the Fund, with Noemi S. as Senior Program Officer. We talked with Amanda about what technical assistance can and can't do here, and why systems that countries own themselves may prove more resilient than what they replace: https://lnkd.in/gjdAJ9Sj

We're hiring for two roles on our Salesforce team — a Senior Architect or Architect, and a Senior Administrator / Business Analyst — to build and run the systems our grantmaking depends on. We're scaling quickly and are continuously building new functionality within Salesforce and supporting new integrations — including recently launching our own MCPs! Our system is deliberately code-first and heavily customized, and we're extremely AI-forward. These would be great roles for someone looking to bring their expertise to a mission-first, fast-paced and quickly scaling organization. For the Architect / Senior Architect, an ideal candidate would be excited about providing additional technical leadership and delivery capacity in a heavily customized org, focusing on designing and building complex solutions that support our grantmaking and fast-growing partnerships work. Extensive experience with Apex and LWC development will be important for success. For the Senior Administrator and Business Analyst, you'd be contributing to our admin-led ticket triage while also owning the intake, discovery, and analysis work that gets projects implementation-ready. An ideal candidate would enjoy sitting down with a colleague who doesn't know Salesforce, working out what they actually need, and turning that into something our team can build — including when what they've asked for isn't what will actually solve the problem. Applications for both close on October 4, 2026 (11:59pm PT). A chief of staff's primary output isn't their own work — it's their principal's. Coefficient Giving currently has 10 of them. In a new essay, Danny De La Torre draws on his year and a half as chief of staff to our COO to explain three things that make someone effective in the role: • Protect your principal's time • Make information gathering cheap • Architect how the work gets done Full essay here: https://lnkd.in/gN49AiDx

Today we're launching Project Tailwind, our call for founders to launch ambitious new AI safety initiatives: https://lnkd.in/g3jExH5J Transformative AI may arrive within a few years, and the world isn't ready for it. There are critical, basic problems in this field that no one owns — and we're prepared to fund the people willing to take ownership of them. Earlier this year, we asked our AI safety grantmakers to write down the top initiatives they would fund if we could find a promising founder. The list quickly grew past 200. We've since narrowed it to 36 pressing initiatives, across seven areas: • Independent assessment • Research institutions • Evidence generation • AI security & verification • Public goods • Talent acceleration • Convenings Funding is available at three levels: 1️⃣ Pre-seed: $200k to $2m to develop an idea and build a team 2️⃣ Seed: $2m to $20m to launch and scale 3️⃣ Scale: $20m to $200m+ for proven teams to scale, or world-class teams to start If you have a strong track record and want to build something important, tell us who you are and what you'd build. Promising candidates will be invited to submit a proposal, and especially strong candidates will be invited to a pitch meeting straightaway. We aim to decide quickly and disburse funds soon after. Today we're opening Launchpad Funds, a request for expressions of interest to seed or scale funds tackling important, underfunded problems in global health and wellbeing. We're looking for funds built around a specific outcome and led by a "general manager" personally accountable for delivering it. There are two tracks: 1️⃣ Pre-seed funding: $200k–$10m over up to 24 months. At the lower end, this supports an individual developing a fund's idea and strategy. At higher levels it can also fund building a team, and at the highest levels, initial exploratory grantmaking. 2️⃣ Seed and scaling funding: $10m–$50m+ over up to 36 months. This is for established ideas that haven't yet secured anchor support, or existing funds that could scale well beyond current funding. We expect most of it to go toward regranting. Across both tracks, we'll weigh a fund's potential to absorb $100m+ from other funders over the next several years. We expect to make at least 10 pre-seed grants and at least 3 seed and scaling grants. We'll consider applications from: • Individuals well-positioned to become a general manager • Early-stage funds • Existing funds with room to scale • Funders and incubators that could host a new fund • Implementing organizations ready to own an entire problem The application form is intentionally short; we expect it to take 1–2 hours. Applications are due October 2, and we'll make decisions on a rolling basis. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/gJV_2fUV Launchpad Funds is one part of a broader acceleration of our global health and wellbeing giving in 2026–27. Otis Reid, our Executive Director of Global Health & Wellbeing, has written more on what we're scaling and why: https://lnkd.in/gGZAB_gs

We're hiring a Business Immigration Associate to own the visa and green card casework that makes it possible for us to hire the best talent by securing and maintaining the U.S. work authorization they need. With our staff and grantmaking growing fast and U.S. immigration policy shifting rapidly, this work has never mattered more to our mission. The role involves owning day-to-day casework end-to-end — nonimmigrant visas (H-1B, E-3, O-1) and green card processes, including complex PERM cases — partnering with our external immigration counsel on case strategy, guiding employees and managers through high-stakes processes with clarity and empathy, and helping build a more resilient, scalable immigration function as we grow. Applications close on September 20, 2026 (11:59pm PT). Learn more and apply here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eDuePtMx Not interested, but know someone who would be?
