A safe fix is to use a different academic document that has all the required details on one side, such as a current enrollment/bonafide certificate. GitHub’s message specifically requires documents to be captured using the device camera, so a pre-combined image isn't a valid workaround. If GitHub's camera flow supports multiple captures, you can try submitting the front and back separately; otherwise, use a single-sided document. |

Hi! I don't think you need to put both sides of the ID into a single camera frame. GitHub's current documentation says that a school ID with a current enrollment date can be used as proof, but it also accepts alternatives such as a class schedule, transcript, or enrollment/affiliation letter. Since your ID splits the relevant information across two sides, I'd recommend using a different document that shows your current academic status and at least one relevant date in one view, if you have one—for example, a transcript or class schedule. If the ID is your only available proof, I would contact GitHub Education Support rather than trying to combine the front and back into one image, especially since your rejection specifically says to use the device camera. However, the github support no longer accept any ticket about authentication problem. So no Homo sapiens to ask for, only copilot to respond. It is frustrating to see how wrong they use the AI without human touch for services like this. |

Hi everyone,
I am trying to submit my college ID card as proof of academic affiliation for GitHub, but I am running into a technical limitation. Essential verification details are split across both sides of my ID the front displays my student details, while the back contains the date of issue. When I attempted to upload a combined image of both sides, my application was rejected because GitHub strictly requires live photos, stating: "Please use your device camera to submit academic affiliation documents." Has anyone figured out a workaround to capture both sides of an ID in a single live camera shot?
