Starting a business is daunting. Starting a business while rebuilding your mental health takes a different kind of strength. Ahead of World Mental Health Day this weekend, we're sharing Danny's story from our UK team at Ingeus, one of many inspiring mental health and wellbeing journeys from our teams around the world. After struggling with anxiety and depression, Danny found support through the Restart Scheme and began rebuilding his confidence. With the encouragement of his advisor Amy and support from specialist business mentors, he transformed a passion for fitness into his own personal training business. Danny didn’t just start earning a living doing something he loves. He began helping others improve their health and wellbeing too. What stands out most about Danny's story isn't the business he built. It's the courage it took to believe that a different future was possible. Mental health challenges can affect anyone. But as many of the stories in our global library show, the right support, the right person in your corner, and the right opportunity can make a lasting difference. Watch Danny's story below. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #Wellbeing #Inclusion

What happens when you combine determination, lived experience and a passion for making things better? You get Barbara. As a person with disability, Barbara has faced challenges that many people never see. But rather than letting those experiences define her, she's using them to create positive change for others. Through APM Communities, Barbara found new opportunities to connect with her community, build confidence and become a strong advocate for disability inclusion. With support from Sarah, an NDIS Local Area Coordinator with APM in Queensland, Barbara became involved in DIG, the Disability Innovations Group for Hervey Bay. The group was set up to support people with disability to better engage with mainstream and community providers, and have a say in how things can improve. And one of their biggest achievements was the creation of FestABLE, an inclusive community event designed and managed by people with disability, that would go on to attract more than 3,000 people. Now Chair of the group, Barbara is thriving with purpose and connections across the community. And she’s showing how people with disability aren't just participants in their communities. They're leaders, changemakers and advocates helping shape them. Watch Barbara's story below. #DisabilityInclusion #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #CommunityInclusion #APMCommunities #Inclusion

"Most people listen to reply, not to understand." It's a simple observation from APM Ambassador and Aussie Paralympic legend Ellie Cole AM PLY, but it challenges the way many of us communicate. In this video, Ellie shares one practical tip anyone can try immediately: wait five seconds before responding. Those few seconds create space for people to finish their thoughts, feel heard, and share more of their perspective. That's where real inclusion starts. Not with a policy or a program, but with the everyday conversations we have with each other. Give it a go. You might be surprised by what you learn, and what others feel comfortable sharing.

How much of your identity is tied to your job? For 30 years, Ahn Jang-yong's identity was tied to his work. Then one day, it wasn't. Like many people approaching later stages of their career, he faced a question that can be both confronting and deeply personal… "What's next?" After decades of experience, stepping into a new chapter can feel uncertain. The routines change. The plans that once seemed clear suddenly need to be rewritten. For Ahn Jang-yong, career transition meant rediscovering purpose, confidence and direction. With support from Ingeus Korea, part of the global APM Group, he was able to navigate that transition, explore new opportunities and build a future he could feel excited about. His story is a powerful reminder that careers don't end when one chapter closes. Sometimes that's when a new chapter begins. At APM Group, we see every day that people are capable of far more than they often realise, especially when they have the right support, guidance and encouragement behind them. Whether someone is starting their career, returning to work, rebuilding after adversity or planning their next move, meaningful employment support can help turn uncertainty into opportunity. Watch Ahn Jang-yong's story below and see how ingeus korea support, resilience and a willingness to embrace change helped him take the next step forward.

Change attitudes, change bias, change stigma.   That’s the goal of our research partnership with Aron Mercer and Griffith University.   We’re excited to enter this next stage as the Griffith University research team begins the voluntary survey process with neurodivergent employees, as well as managers, people and culture representatives and other colleagues.

Some news: Since announcing the research partnership between APM and Griffith University, a lot has happened behind the scenes. Months of planning, ethics approvals, and consultation with our neurodiverse working group have led to this point. My research explores how people experience disclosing neurodivergence in the workplace and how organisations respond. With the launch of a qualitative study with APM, it is about to get real. I am excited to hear people's lived experiences and learn from the diverse perspectives across the organisation. If you are eligible to participate, APM will soon share information about how to get involved. We're proud to share that APM Group has been recognised with two finalist nominations in the 2026 Australian Disability Network Disability Confidence Awards.   At APM, we've been working to make our digital experience more accessible, inclusive and easier to use for everyone. From improving website accessibility and embedding accessible content standards, to creating disability language guidance and involving employees with lived experience in reviewing and shaping our digital experience. It's been a journey built on lots of small improvements that make a real difference. At the same time, our Konekt team has been named a finalist for its Reasonable Adjustment Service, which has helped hundreds of employees access workplace adjustments that support participation, inclusion and success at work. What makes these nominations special is that they're both about people. People sharing their experiences and feedback. People challenging us to do better. People working behind the scenes to remove barriers. And people benefiting from more accessible websites, more inclusive workplaces and better support. We're honoured to be recognised alongside some of Australia's leading organisations, but we're even prouder of the teams who continue to make inclusion and accessibility part of everyday decisions, not just special projects. Congratulations to everyone involved across APM and Konekt. We're excited to see the impact this work continues to have for the people we support, our employees and our communities. He worked 12-hour days. Every day. No breaks. No holidays. No time off. For the equivalent of about $60 a month. That was life for Chibuzor before he left Nigeria in search of something better. When he arrived in Canada, he found a country he loved. But like many newcomers, he quickly discovered that starting over wasn't easy. No Canadian work experience. No local network. No clear path forward. For many people, that's where opportunity can feel out of reach. But Chibuzor refused to give up. With support from Peel Region, Employment Ontario and WCG Services, part of APM Group, he gained the tools, guidance and employer connections needed to take that next crucial step. It didn't take long. A job lead. An interview. A chance to prove himself. And suddenly, a future that once felt uncertain became possible. Today, Chibuzor is employed, building his career, contributing to his community, and creating the life he dreamed of when he first arrived in Canada. What stands out most is his gratitude. "Canada has been helpful. So I'm just trying to do my part in repaying, paying my taxes, filing my taxes, and contributing." At APM Group, we know employment is about much more than earning a wage. It's about belonging. It's about dignity. It's about having the opportunity to contribute, build connections, and create a place to call home. Watch Chibuzor's story below and see how determination, opportunity and the right support helped transform a new beginning into a brighter future.
