    Parenting your parents

::bigdumbgrin:: Heh. After my father's first stroke, they were very concerned because it affected his reading ability. He doesn't recognize letters well anymore. I happened to visit while this was happening - I then asked "shouldn't he be wearing his reading glasses?" It helped. And hearing -...

Yeah. Its difficult - Remaining true to your own values, versus the mental gymnastics you have regarding the person. Its been ... conflicting in some areas, and this message thread has helped in dealing with that.

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

Different people like different games :). I can't stand Dark Souls games - the repetitive deaths just turn me off. I LIKE the repetitive tasks, and learning how to do things. Its like Minecraft - you learn by doing, and/or you can spend an hour building a house so you don't have to think about...

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

See, I LIKE beating my head against the wall for things, until I figure them out, and then I lambaste myself for missing something so simple. Its got a lot of the mechanics from the previous game, but a lot of interesting new stuff.

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

Thanks, [Ars]Hellheart! I'll check that one out next, if its on XBox. To me, I had so much fun on GKI that I'm willing to see how it goes. Right now, in GK2, I'm in the fun stage of not knowing what I'm doing, and how to get resources. I use it to wind down after a busy day, so I'm not intensely...

    STAR TREK: The Perpetual Thread

My gods, but what a beautiful beautiful episode. Well written, purely in the vein of Star Trek, lots of beautiful technobabble, and a great through storyline. I can’t say how much I love this episode. Truly beautiful.

My gods, Barstow... that's a beautiful story, and the best outcome I could think of. I'm damn well going to keep that line in my head - You aren't the person you were two weeks ago, and not the one a month ago - that fits beautifully. My fingers are crossed I can use it, and it helps. Thank you...

    Your fidget toy of choice?

During work and public times, fidgeting with my ring, or my bracelet, or apple watch band will work. At home, I have a roller-thingy about 6 inches long, with raised spikes on it, that I roll in my hands. The pain helps at times :)

Another vague post. Its always no steps forward, 13 steps back, isn't it. At some point, I'm just going to have to say "screw it" to his dignity and self-determination, and just do what's best for him. But it will break him further, and destroy what relationship we have. This... sucks.

    STAR TREK: The Perpetual Thread

I'd love to see a one-off episode from Starfleet Records. "Hey, the latest Enterprise records are here! Are we breaking out the vidscreen and popcorn again?" "Gorn! Did anyone have a Gorn mothership infiltration on their bingo card? Larry had "unknown aliens", does that count?" "Singing in...

My condolences, Thegn. Its a rough situtation, and for folks who haven't been through it, its hard to comprehend. But yes, a surcease from suffering is the best we can hope for.

    STAR TREK: The Perpetual Thread

LOVED this episode. Great return to form. Loved both the A and B plots. It also solved the dilemma. I didn't like it, but I understand it.

    Tire puncture repair

I keep a can of fix-a-flat in my trunk. It saved me one time, when repair wasn't possible. Drove two hours on it, and then had the tire replaced the next day.

    STAR TREK: The Perpetual Thread

I really liked the emotional scenes. They acted the hell out of those. I REALLY enjoyed the continuity, and them referring to past episodes and the effect on their lives. The rest of it? Not so much.

Please don't worry about how you sound. One of the main reasons for this thread is for a place to complain and vent for a while, because we can't do it in Real Life, without sounding like an asshole. This thread has kept my sanity in many ways. My friends that have gone through this understand...
