The Problem
• Emotion Regulation Deficit
In a study of 40 preschool children, all initially scored
below standard levels in emotion regulation and effortful
control (ability to pause impulses and correct mistakes),
showing this gap is widespread and common.
• Challenges in Parental Role
Parents play a pivotal and indispensable role in fostering
the development of social and emotional learning (SEL)
skills in children. However, most of them admit to face
various challenges when teaching these vital skills.
• The Need for Support
Base in an interview, 20 Parents expressed a need for
accessible resources enhance their SEL (Social &
motional Learning) teaching capabilities
The Solution
• Our solution is Chat Book, an emotionally interactive journal designed to help
elementary students express, understand, and manage their emotions in a fun, safe,
and creative way.
• Through interactive diary pages, feelings checklists, cartoon buddy conversations,
and reward systems, Chat Book encourages children to communicate their
thoughts and emotions confidently.
• It also helps reduce excessive gadget dependence by promoting screen-free
activities such as writing, drawing, coloring, and storytelling while strengthening
emotional awareness and family bonding.
