United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology’s Post

As #UNGA81 High-level Week comes to a close, we want to spotlight the team behind the scenes that ensures when world leaders gather at UN Headquarters, their messages can be heard, seen and shared around the world. From preparing conference rooms, testing teleprompters, microphones, cameras and interpretation systems to supporting broadcasts and the technology behind meetings, the OICT Broadcast and Conference Support Section works before delegates ever take their seats. Thank you to our BCSS colleagues for helping power #UNGA81.

  • A BCSS colleague sits in a control room filled with numerous screens displaying various news channels and broadcasts, including CNN. The room is equipped with a range of technical equipment and control panels, and the person appears to be monitoring the broadcasts.
  • A person is sitting in a translator's booth overlooking the United Nations General Assembly hall. They are using a computer and notebooks. Several screens show different content, including a live feed of a person speaking and text in Arabic. The iconic United Nations emblem is visible in the assembly hall.
  • A person is seated at a control desk with multiple monitors and audio equipment. The screens display various graphics and video feeds, including one of a person speaking. The workspace includes phones, a sanitizer bottle, and filing cabinets in the background.

Appreciating everyone working behind the scenes to make this global stage possible. So much goes into ensuring that every message, conversation and moment reaches people around the world. Thank you to the teams whose work makes it all happen.
