Fateen Anam Rafid liked thisFateen Anam Rafid liked thisChoosing to work in a startup is one of the best decisions you can make early on in your career. Here’s why 👇 You learn more than any other job and... have fun doing it. For example, in the Build Club team, we only have 5 in the team but: - You are forced into sink or swim scenarios. If you don't get the job done no one will meaning you will learn faster than anywhere else. - Everyone talks directly to customers and partners meaning greater career exposure from day zero. - Work is flexible as you trust each other a lot. This week, our team is in NY, SF, IND, ANZ with two of us co-locating in startup HQ (thank you James Alexander and Julia French for letting us crash your US offices!). - You follow your curiosity and choose what you want your superpower to be. The team grows around you to enable you. - It's a chance to define the culture and attract team members you want to work with who align with your 'vibe'! One of the most rewarding things too! - You can build systems from scratch and then have the chance to automate them! This is oddly satisfying. Most importantly, you are part of something that actually matters to you. That being said, there is a decent level of chaos and uncertainty which comes with early-stage startups, but that's all part of the journey. Now days with AI anyone can learn new skill faster than ever, traditional roles are changing fast. There is no better environment to join to leverage this skills / intelligence democratization then in an impactful environment that moves fast in startups. You just need to take the first step and choose to build. P.S. if you want to join a startup, we are hiring at Build Club (DM for details) #startups #learningbybuilding

It’s such an interesting space so I wrote a blog post with photos and videos. TLDR, here is what I found: AI robot pets are an obvious market opportunity, but there hasn’t been any mainstream success so far. Challenges from previous attempts include a lack of unique bond and long term growth beyond the initial novelty. Some early winners here, although still missing some key elements: 👶🏻Lovot, with its decade-long experience in building, is the farthest along in liveliness and engagement, but the price tag of $40k+ is prohibitive. Its tech roadmap also doesn’t make use of the latest LLM tech. 🐱 Moflin by Casio, a critter that wiggles and chirps, has been sold out in Japan already since its release at its much more affordable price tag of $400. But its responses are quite limited, especially without details like eyes, or companion apps. Long term retention remains to be seen. 🤖Talking robots with the latest LLMs are cool, but seems more fitting for kids’ educational purposes, as we adults can simply switch to our AI apps on our mobile phone for much better experience. For what the market needs, there still seems to be a long way to go… See link in comments for my full post with more in depth analysis, comparisons, and videos!

Was an amazing time meeting cool new Bangladeshi folks from all sorts of backgrounds! In the process of launching the organization across 11 cities on 3 continents, we've been able to connect Bangladeshis across the world in various key fields: Some of our best tech talent in the Bay Area, Toronto, Seattle and Austin, incredible finance minds in New York and London, and a bustling cultural core in Los Angeles (also in New York and London!). When our diaspora comes together like this, we are infinitely stronger for the betterment of our people no matter where we are. Can you just imagine what happens when our top tech talent, for instance, can support our entrepreneurs in Bangladesh and around the world? Thanks to all those that came! Fateen Anam Rafid, Syam Anupom, Shiblee Imtiaz Hasan, Sheikh Srijon, Saqif Badruddin, Katherine Wadhwani, Kevin Kawashita, Rafi Tanzim, Navid Chowdhury, Sami Iqram, Arnab B., Labib Tazwar Rahman, Maheeb Chowdhury, Preunky Akther, Khalid Bijon, Sameen Islam, Shamima Khan, Rubab Uddin, Badrul Chowdhury, Sanjeeda Nusrat, Adil Wahab, Yousuf Imran, Maliyat Rahman... please tag yourself or let me know if I've missed you! My conviction in Flow Engineering has only grown since I first led the Series A. I invested personally in this round and joined as an independent board member because of the team, the traction in the business, and the timing of AI accelerating hardware development. 35 of 100 most valuable companies in the world are technology companies, and 26 of those 35 are hybrid hardware/software companies. Flow Engineering enables legacy and frontier hardware businesses to harness agentic development and accelerate time to market.

DevSignal grew 8× in 2025. Some highlights: • Placed 600+ engineers since launching in 2024 • Worked with startups backed by YC, a16z, General Catalyst, Alt Capital, and others • Currently working with 3 leading AI data platforms • Helped staff a mobile app that reached #1 on the App Store • Partnered with 2 VCs as their go-to firm for technical hiring • Built our own internal tech stack: ATS, developer portal, and client tools • Created a special projects team working on stealth AI initiatives What surprised me most: how much everything compounds. Early placements turned into referrals. The boring operational work we did in month three is what allows us to move this fast today. None of it felt important at the time. For 2026, we’re doubling down on what worked: human judgment for culture and mission fit, AI for everything else. Speed matters, but only when quality doesn’t slip.

You can have groundbreaking science, elegant engineering, and even early customer interest. But without this one thing, you don't have an investable business. After two decades running IP strategy projects and now leading UC Berkeley's Deep Tech Innovation Lab while building the Berkeley Gateway Accelerator, I've watched countless brilliant technologies die in the valley between breakthrough and business. The problem isn't what most technical founders think it is. It's not about having better tech. It's not about getting more funding. It's not even about finding product-market fit. The fatal flaw shows up much earlier—and it's almost always the same mistake. In my latest piece, I answer questions from a Taiwanese entrepreneur about what really separates deep tech ventures that scale from those that stall. Including one provocative suggestion for Asian ecosystems that has nothing to do with technology. 'Hardware is hard' - but not for much longer. The team at Flow Engineering are building transformative tools for hardware engineers - a hugely underserved market desperately in need of technology to help them make and scale breakthroughs in energy, industry, manufacturing and more. Congratulations to Pari Singh on reaching another huge milestone. All of us at Odyssey Ventures are excited for the next stage of the journey!

💭 Y Combinator CEO says YC startups launch with 95% of their code written by AI 😮. Harness Field CTO Martin R. brings valuable insight to the conversation with LeadDev around this trend and its impact on software developers. "Having a human in the loop will continue to be vital. The future of coding will involve a combination of human creativity and AI-driven efficiency." Read more on how AI is reshaping engineering roles ⬇️. https://lnkd.in/gnRmrWxS
