Dimitris Fotiou shared this𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞? 🚀🛰️ I am pleased to announce the successful completion of my Master’s thesis, titled "Space-Age DevOps: Integrating ESA's NanoSat MO Framework with Kubernetes for Seamless Satellite Operations", at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. In the era of New Space, traditional satellite operations need to evolve with the aim of achieving smaller time-to-launch cycles along with increased automation and scalability. This can be done by bridging the gap between ground-based DevOps practices and on-orbit operations. With a focus on enabling space edge computing, this thesis re-architects the European Space Agency's NanoSat MO Framework and integrates it with Kubernetes and DevOps processes. As written in the preface of my thesis "The Earth is our courtyard, but Space is immense. Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. This always intrigued me in bringing my ”down to Earth” technology knowledge to Space. Hopefully, my postgraduate master’s program in NKUA proved to be a fundamental first step for this. This thesis is a fruit of this journey." Dimitris Fotiou shared thisI’m happy to share that I’ve successfully earned the 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗞𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 (CKAD) certification. This journey helped me sharpen my Kubernetes ecosystem skills, improve problem-solving through automation, and deepen my understanding of cloud-native application design. Excited to keep learning and applying these skills in real-world projects.

On to the next milestone! 🚀Dimitris Fotiou liked thisTraffic between your Azure workloads and Elastic Cloud Serverless now stays inside Azure's network. Azure Private Link for Elastic Cloud Serverless is generally available. Elasticsearch, Observability, and Security Serverless projects can all be configured so no data crosses the public internet. Configure it: You create the private endpoint in your subscription, add its resource ID to a policy in Elastic Cloud Console, and Elastic auto-approves the connection. Any request that doesn't arrive through a matching endpoint is rejected. Operationally: one policy covers multiple projects. IP filters and private endpoints can run on the same project at the same time — traffic needs to match one attached policy, not all of them. Projects created before August 4 are grandfathered and can use traffic filtering regardless of tier. Observability and Security Serverless projects require the Complete tier for new projects created on or after August 4. Elasticsearch Serverless has no tier requirement. Dimitris Fotiou liked thisDimitris Fotiou liked thisReporting back from an exciting WCCM-ECCOMAS 2026 in Munich, where together with Rui Zhang and Eleni Chatzi we organized a minisymposium on Adaptive Physics-Aware Models for Engineering Decision Support. 🔗 The session was held as part of the Turing Project. It brought the question TURING works on into a computational science room: what does it take for a model to stay reliable once it leaves the conditions it was built under? That is the gap the minisymposium convened around. Ten talks over two sessions on Friday, covering physics-guided learning and how far it can be pushed toward real-time decision support. 🙏 Many thanks to the speakers and contributors for the interesting talks and discussion! 🤝 Our Turing Project collaborators were in Munich too! Prof. Vissarion Papadopoulos (NTUA, NCOMP) chaired two interesting full sessions on Machine Learning-Enhanced Solvers for Partial Differential Equations in Computational Science and presented their work on Stochastic Manifold-Aware Neural Preconditioning for Parametric Elliptic PDEs. 📅 The conversation continues at DTE 2027 in Yokohama, 8–12 March 2027, where together with BEATRIZ MOYA, Eleni Chatzi, and Francisco Chinesta we organize a minisymposium on Scientific Machine Learning for Digital Twins in Engineering. ⏳ Abstracts close tomorrow, 28 July: https://dte2027.iacm.info/

Dimitris Fotiou liked thisΣε σχέση με το παιδί που σκότωσαν οι αστυνομικοί στο Άργος υπήρξαν κ πολλοί υποστηρικτές τους που λέγανε εμετικά σχόλια του τύπου "Καλά άτομο με αυτισμό το άφηναν να κυκλοφορεί ελεύθερο" Αυτα ειναι σχολια που προσπαθουν να μετακυλισουν την ευθυνη της αστυνομίας την στιγμη που ειχε να χειριστει μια δυσκολη κατασταση και τα κανανε σκατα. απο ότι έχω καταλάβει ναι οδηγούσε επικίνδυνα κ όντως μπορεί να είχε τραυματισει κάποιον κ μπορεί κ να εμβολισε το περιπολικό αν κατάλαβα καλα. αυτό δεν αλλάζει όμως σε καμία περίπτωση ότι 1. Ήταν αοπλος 2. Ήταν πεζός οταν του ρίξανε 2.5 απομακρύνοταν απο την αστυνομία 3. Του ρίξανε πισώπλατα 4. Ρίξανε ευθεία βολή 5. Πέτυχαν κεφάλι (σκοπευσανε) Εάν δεν μπορεί η αστυνομία να καταλάβει ποτέ πρέπει να χρησιμοποιήσει θανάσιμη βία σημαίνει οτι μπορεί να γίνει επικίνδυνη για κάθε πολίτη.

Dimitris Fotiou reacted on thisDimitris Fotiou reacted on thisMy PhD journey has now come to its conclusion with the successful defence of my doctoral thesis at the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. My doctoral research focused on the operational performance and long-term reliability of radio-frequency quadrupoles (RFQs) with experimental studies of radiation effects in Cu-OFE copper, diagnostics development and materials characterisation. I would like to sincerely thank my supervisors Georgios Fikioris, Evangelos N. Gazis and Athanasios D. Panagopoulos and my ESS supervisor Nick Gazis along with the rest of the members of the examination committee Christos Tsironis, Elias Glytsis and Theo Alexopoulos for their great guidance and support. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all collaborators and colleagues who contributed their expertise, effort and support across the various aspects of this work as this thesis would not have been possible without their input.
