Congcong Li liked this20x fewer serious injury or worse crashes than the average human driver over 270M miles. This is why we do what we do!Congcong Li liked this270 million fully autonomous miles. 841 fewer injury-causing crashes. Waymo has driven the equivalent of over 300 human lifetimes behind the wheel across Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco through June 2026. Compared to human driving benchmarks over that same distance in those cities, the Waymo Driver had: 📉 82% fewer injury-causing crashes 📉 95% fewer serious injury or worse crashes As our service scales, road safety scales with it. Congcong Li liked thisCongcong Li liked thisApril is National Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Month, prompting me to reflect and ask you to i) ensure you and your loved ones get the recommended cancer screenings on a timely basis (see here: lnkd.in/etHRNvQE); and ii) ask questions to understand and advocate for yourself if you notice unusual changes in your body. I received my first of two cancer diagnoses 25 years ago after a routine mammogram. Thanks to an early diagnosis and the extraordinary care I received at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I have years of memories and milestones I feared I would miss. I am one of the lucky ones. All too often I hear stories of those facing their own ‘Day 1’ of their journey with this disease. It is a community that is growing at a staggering rate. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 2M people in the US will be diagnosed with cancer in 2026, and 20M worldwide. Notably, early-onset cancer (diagnosed in adults under 50) is rising sharply, disproportionately for women. On the positive side, the pace of scientific discovery and advancement offers cause for hope. At Google, we believe that cancer will be conquered in our lifetime – which means some types will be eradicated while others will become manageable through accelerated drug discovery and enhanced early detection enabled by AI. As a cancer survivor, “manageable” is a word I learned to love and respect. This shift is already evident: innovations like CAR-T and checkpoint inhibitors have made some previously lethal cancers treatable; AI is helping radiologists evaluate thousands of scans faster; and research from Google with the NHS England and Imperial College London shows AI can help identify 25% of "interval cancers" previously missed in screenings. Computational oncologists (using AI to analyze complex biological data and model the cancer progression) working alongside clinical oncologists are accelerating breakthroughs at an unprecedented rate, transforming months of traditional clinical observation into actionable, personalized treatment pivots in days. Google’s work with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) on the ASCO Guidelines Assistant [lnkd.in/eiSJAVfQ] helps oncologists pinpoint life-saving treatment recommendations by condensing complex, evidence-based oncology guidelines into a conversational interface – building on ASCO’s trusted, citable work to empower clinicians with the latest evidence, so they can focus on care. Extraordinary outcomes possible with AI, in support of clinicians, should give us all hope for a future when cancer becomes manageable, regardless of the zip code in which you live or the cancer you have. That future starts with a screening – the time granted with early detection is the greatest gift for ourselves and our loved ones. The guidelines above outline when to start, based on age and risk factors. Make the appointment, get tested, don’t delay. Very few things are more important.

The future of AI in the next 100 years is a tapestry of immense promise and profound challenge. My latest visual explores the dual paths ahead: on one side, a utopian vision of AI-driven healthcare, sustainable cities, and scientific breakthroughs. On the other, the stark realities of the 'Alignment Problem,' the rise of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), and potential societal disruptions. This image isn't just a prediction; it's a prompt for discussion. How do we ensure the incredible potential of AI is realized responsibly? What steps must we take today to navigate the complexities of tomorrow? hashtag #AI #FutureTech #ArtificialIntelligence #AGI #ASI #Innovation #Ethics #Technology #FutureOfWork #DigitalTransformation

✈️ Starting today, Waymo employees can now take robotaxi rides to and from San Francisco International Airport. As the team finalizes all the details with the airports ground access and pick up and drop off system, the service will begin to open to the public. SFO has been long awaited as the capstone of the origin/destination hub for the City and County of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. This is the largest airport ridehail market in the Bay Area and will tip the unit economics closer to where they need to be. The j-curve of scaling just hit the tipping point. Follow me, Timothy Papandreou for the latest in emerging technologies.

Day one of the Advanced Vision & AI Conference opened with Vincent Vanhoucke of Waymo on multimodal perception, sensor fusion and simulation for safe autonomy. “Trust is a notch above safety. It’s also about consistency, quality of service, and predictability.” Vincent walked through how Waymo combines cameras, lidar, radar and AI to handle the long-tail situations autonomous systems encounter in the real world, along with how simulation helps prepare for scenarios that have not happened yet. #AVAC #MachineVision #AI

I work closely with several leading autonomy and robotics companies in the Bay Area 🚗🤖 and regularly connect with engineers across planning, perception, simulation, and robotics systems. One trend I’m seeing across many teams: strong systems engineers are increasingly in demand. The stack (often C++ / Python) matters, but what matters more is deep domain experience in robotics or autonomous systems, particularly around safety, evaluation, validation, and fault handling. If you’re working in this space or curious about what’s happening across AV and robotics, feel free to reach out. #robotics #autonomoussystems #physicalAI

Waymo gets regulatory approval to expand across Bay Area and Southern California|EXCLUSIVE: Waymo continues to expand its reach, with the robotaxi company posting Friday that it’s now “officially authorized to drive fully autonomously across more of the Golden State.” Waymo already operates in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles (and outside California as well, in Atlanta, Austin, and Phoenix). But maps published by California’s Department of Motor Vehicles showed that the company can now test and deploy its autonomous vehicles across a much larger area in both the Bay Area and Southern California....
