Andan H M shared this🚀 Spent some time exploring HyperDX, an open-source observability platform. What impressed me wasn’t another dashboard—it was how quickly I could get started. Since my applications already emit OpenTelemetry, I didn’t have to change a single line of application code. I simply pointed the OTLP endpoint to HyperDX, and logs, traces, and metrics started flowing in. HyperDX vs SigNoz ✅ Both are OpenTelemetry-native. ✅ Both use ClickHouse under the hood. 🚀 HyperDX is looking very promising for the development workflow. The developer experience is smooth, search is fast, and I’m currently exploring its capabilities further. 🏢 SigNoz still feels like the more mature choice for production deployments, with a richer ecosystem and operational features. My biggest takeaway Don’t couple your applications to an observability vendor. Invest in OpenTelemetry, not vendor-specific SDKs. Once your applications speak OTLP, switching observability backends becomes a configuration change—not an engineering project. It’s about making it easy for the next engineer to read, debug, and extend with confidence. That means: ✔️ Use clear and meaningful names. ✔️ Keep functions focused on one responsibility. ✔️ Avoid unnecessary abstractions. ✔️ Follow consistent project conventions. ✔️ Leave the codebase a little better than you found it. The best compliment your code can receive isn’t “Wow, that’s clever.” It’s: “I understood it immediately.” Remember, every line of code is read far more times than it’s written. Optimise for readability first—future teammates (and your future self) will thank you. When we buy a new car, we’re often drawn to the latest features—bigger screens, voice assistants, ambient lighting, AI, and countless add-ons. They look impressive. But over time, many of those features become outdated or expensive to maintain. Software is no different. As engineers, we often get excited about the newest frameworks, libraries, and tools. We add them because they’re new, not because they’re necessary. A few years later, some are deprecated, others are no longer maintained, and suddenly, we’re spending more time upgrading dependencies than delivering business value. Every tool you add has a maintenance cost: ✔️ Version upgrades ✔️ Security patches ✔️ Learning curve for new team members ✔️ Debugging integration issues ✔️ Long-term operational overhead The business isn’t paying for the number of tools you use. It’s paying for the value your software creates. Start with a reliable “base model.” Add technology only when it solves a real problem. Keep the architecture simple, and let business needs—not hype—drive technical decisions. Simple software is often the easiest to maintain, the easiest to scale, and the most valuable over time. Instead of asking every developer to install and configure multiple tools, why not make it as simple as: Instead of asking every developer to install and configure multiple tools, why not make it simple? ✅ OpenTelemetry for traces, metrics, and logs ✅ SigNoz running locally with Docker ✅ Automatic HTTP instrumentation ✅ Database query tracing (GORM/pgx) ✅ Redis instrumentation ✅ Outbound HTTP client tracing ✅ Structured logs with trace_id and request_id correlation ✅ Runtime metrics (goroutines, memory, GC, latency) The goal isn’t just observability in production. It’s giving every developer the ability to answer questions like: * Why is this request slow? * Which SQL query is taking time? * Did Redis get called? * Which external API is the bottleneck? What logs belong to this request? …without adding custom debug logs everywhere. I’ve already built a telemetry package in my go-production-grade repository that simplifies OpenTelemetry initialisation. The next step is integrating it with SigNoz, so developers get a complete local observability stack with almost zero configuration. Goroutines are lightweight, but they also introduce scheduling overhead, synchronisation, and complexity. Use goroutines only when the work can run concurrently and provides a measurable benefit. For CPU-bound or sequential tasks, a simple function call is often the better choice. Rule of thumb: Don’t use goroutines because you can. It gives me leverage. It lets me guide, redirect, and keep him safe. Without it, the walk becomes the problem. With it, the walk becomes the solution. As an engineer, Claude feels exactly like that harness. In a world where our “problem spaces” are getting more hyper‑active - ambiguous requirements, fast‑moving contexts, exploding complexity - the right AI doesn’t replace your judgment. It amplifies your ability to steer. A good harness doesn’t walk the dog for you. A good harness helps you walk the dog better. The same is true for AI. When you pair human intent with the right AI tooling, you can guide your challenges through the right paths, redirect when needed, and ultimately create healthier, happier outcomes - for your teams, your products, and your customers. Happy to share with you guys that I’ve recently started a new journey as an Engineer at Presidio . 🎉 Making my first job switch felt uncertain and difficult at first. There were rejections, applications with no callbacks, interviews that didn’t work out, and moments where I genuinely questioned whether all the effort was worth it. But slowly, everything started to fall into place and led me to this amazing opportunity. To everyone who is currently trying to switch jobs — trust me, all that silent hard work is never wasted. The personal projects you build, the hours spent updating your resume, solving DSA problems, learning system design, and preparing for interviews — even when no one seems to notice — all of it counts. You might sometimes wonder, “Why aren’t I getting callbacks?” or “Why isn’t anyone asking me about the things I’ve built and learnt?” And then, when someone finally does ask, there’s honestly no better feeling than being able to confidently talk about the things you’ve worked so hard on. Every rejection, every no-response, and every opportunity that didn’t work out taught me something and brought me one step closer to this opportunity. What's missing is the paperwork to prove it. Our work with Jan Sahas Foundation issuing verifiable work-completion credentials to migrant construction workers on CredIssuer has been named a finalist in the Social Impact Award at the Global Digital Trust Awards 2026. The awards are run by the FIDES Community, an open global platform for digital trust, together with its partner organisations, and drew 94 submissions across 29 countries. The submission: Verifiable Work-Completion Credentials for Migrant Construction Workers. Here's the problem it addresses. Migrant construction workers move constantly, from site to site and city to city. The work they complete rarely leaves a record they can carry with them, and without proof of that work, many cannot access the welfare benefits they are legally entitled to. Working with Jan Sahas, we built credentials on CredIssuer to close that gap. Every work entry is approved in real time by the contractor the worker worked under, then issued as a portable, tamper-proof credential the worker holds and controls. Anyone the worker presents it to, from a welfare office to an employer, can verify it instantly. In the live pilot, 194 verifiable work-completion credentials were issued, which workers can use to claim what they are owed. For a worker, it means proof that travels with them. Cashfree Payments, processing ₹4,000 crore a month and losing ₹154 crore a year, just got ₹450 crore from KRAFTON Inc.. Two engineers started this in Bangalore in 2015. Akash S., who was at Amazon, and Reeju Datta. They began with restaurants needing a way to digitize cash-on-delivery, pivoted to online in 2016, and today serve over 1 million businesses processing roughly ₹4,000 crore in monthly volume. That is the celebrated part of the story, and the less celebrated part lives in the FY25 filing. → Revenue stayed flat at ₹640 crore against ₹642.7 crore the year before. → EBITDA loss widened to ₹131 crore, taking the EBITDA margin to minus 20 percent, and net loss grew 14 percent to ₹154 crore. Then, in February 2025, KRAFTON, the Korean gaming company behind PUBG, led a ₹450 crore Series C round. It was KRAFTON's first fintech investment in India. Why does that cheque clear when the P&L looks like this? In the payment infrastructure market, the market does not buy your P&L this year. It buys your switching cost five years from now. 1 million merchants do not move their checkouts overnight; Razorpay and PayU know it, and KRAFTON figured it out from Seoul. For a CA who reads a P&L first, this is the interesting part. Sometimes the moat is worth more than the margin; knowing which is which is the entire operator's job. If you have held a loss-making infra business through a long burn, what convinced your investors to keep funding the moat?

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has instructed Bengaluru-based buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) fintech Simpl to stop all payment operations with immediate effect, citing the absence of the required authorisation under the Payment and Settlement Systems (PSS) Act, 2007. 🚨💰 The RBI claims that Simpl has been operating as a payment system operator without obtaining the necessary Certificate of Authorisation, which is a requirement under the PSS Act. This move follows proceedings initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Simpl and its founder-director, Nithyanand Sharma, in July under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999. 📊 The ED alleges foreign exchange irregularities worth nearly ₹914 crore, stating that Simpl had raised foreign capital in the name of offering technology services but diverted these funds into the financial services business without getting prior approval from the regulator, violating India's foreign direct investment (FDI) rules. 🚫 Key Statistics: 1. 📈 ₹914 crore: alleged foreign exchange irregularities 2. 📊 $83 million: amount raised by Simpl from investors 3. 📈 26,000: number of merchants partnered with Simpl The RBI's move has significant implications for the fintech industry, highlighting the importance of regulatory compliance and authorisation. People outside the lending domain often ask me, “What exactly is digital lending?” Is it using an LOS? Or having a mobile app? Or plugging into TSP APIs like Setu, Karza or Razorpay? The truth is, it is all of the above… layered with something far more fundamental: event based handling. 💡 The misconception Most people imagine lending as a simple workflow: Customer applies → Bank evaluates → Loan approved → Money goes out Sounds linear. Clean. Straightforward. The reality: Lending is a storm of tiny actions happening every second. For example: ✅ Lead created ✅ PAN verified ✅ Bureau pulled ✅ Risk score generated ✅ Documents uploaded ✅ eSign completed…….. Each one is an event. And thousands of such events occur every minute across customers, partners, systems ,services(internal and external),platforms(external and internal)and products. Events drive the process forward instead of humans pushing it manually. 💡So how is this achieved? Answer: Kafka 🚦 Where does Kafka fit? Kafka acts like a central event highway. ➡️ Systems like LOS, KYC, Risk and Partner platforms publish events into Kafka ➡️ Other systems subscribe to the events they care about Kafka moves these events instantly so every system knows what just happened and what should happen next. 💰How this plays out in lending at scale A loan journey might look like this: ➡️ Customer applies ➡️ KYC verifies identity ➡️ Risk scores the case ➡️ LOS decides the outcome ➡️ Disbursement releases funds ➡️ Collections tracks repayments Each step pushes an event into Kafka: -Lead_Created -KYC_Success -Bureau_Completed -Risk_Approved -Loan_Disbursed -EMI_Due -EMI_Paid Different systems consume what they need: ➡️ Underwriting listens to risk events ➡️ Partners listen to status events ➡️ Operations listens to exception events ➡️ Collections listens to repayment events ➡️ Analytics listens to everything So what’s the definition of digital lending again? A lifecycle managed through event-driven orchestration, where systems talk to systems and manual intervention becomes the exception, not the default.

Covenant Evaluation History: A Boardroom Blind Spot in Indian Banking Indian banks do not suffer from lack of data. They suffer from lack of memory. Covenants are evaluated, documented, and archived but rarely interpreted over time. As a result, we notice risk only when it becomes SMA, and act decisively only when it threatens to become NPA. This is where Covenant Evaluation History changes the conversation. It is not an operational residue. It is behavioural evidence. Across cycles, covenant history reveals: • Whether stress is structural or temporary? • Whether waivers are corrective tools or governance failures? • Whether management intent aligns with lender confidence? • Whether risk is being resolved or merely deferred? In an RBI environment focused on early recognition, accountability, and supervisory scrutiny, credit decisions that ignore covenant history are strategically incomplete. For Boards and senior credit committees, covenant evaluation history must directly influence: ✔️ Risk appetite discussions ✔️ Rating migration and pricing logic ✔️ Renewal, enhancement, and restructuring approvals ✔️ Portfolio risk posture before it becomes visible in GNPA ratios The shift required is not technological alone. It is cultural. Covenants should not surface only during breaches or inspections. They should inform judgment continuously. Fintech firm BharatPe is set to bring in two senior Paytm executives for key product and engineering roles. Yugal Tiwari , formerly Senior Vice President, Product at Paytm, is expected to join BharatPe as Chief Product Officer, while Kamal Sharma, former AVP, Engineering at Paytm, has already joined as AVP, Engineering, Consumer. Tiwari has held product leadership roles at Paytm and Paytm Payments Bank and previously worked at CRED. Sharma has more than eight years of experience across engineering roles at Paytm, along with a stint as SVP, Engineering at Kotak Mahindra Bank. Tiwari’s appointment follows the departure of BharatPe’s previous CPO Rohan Khara in June. The appointments add to BharatPe’s recent senior-level hiring from Paytm, including CTO Ajit Kumar in 2025. Sorting out the DLG provisioning paradox For a long time, NBFCs/Banks in digital lending were stuck in a strange spot. They held cash collateral against loan losses but were told to act as if that money didnt exist when it came to provisioning. Ab confusion khatam ho gayi hai. The RBI notification from February 13, 2026, finally aligns regulatory rules with accounting reality. In my view, this is a practical move that stops the double counting of risk. I noticed that under the new rules, NBFCs can finally factor Default Loss Guarantees (DLG) into their Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations across all stages of a loan. What has changed - Net provisioning: If you have a 5% DLG cover on a portfolio with 6.8% expected loss, you only need to provision for the 1.8% gap. - Stage 1 to 3 coverage: This applies to performing, underperforming, and defaulted assets, provided the DLG is part of the original loan contract. - Dynamic updates: Provisions must be recalculated every time a guarantee is used to cover a loss, as the available protection drops. This matters because it affects reported profits and capital adequacy. Instead of overstating losses, financial statements will now show the actual risk a lender carries.
