As the industry enables more ways for players and creators to earn value, payout methods become an important factor. The challenge is not simply offering more options. It is doing so to ensure all users can benefit without creating a patchwork of separate integrations, external experiences, and operational complexity. One integration. Multiple payout options. Player fatigue in games is often a value exchange problem: players leave when what they get back doesn't align with the time they put in. This core principle will continue to lead ongoing innovation across the industry as publishers build stronger financial relationships with players and reward them for the value they help create. Do you know all 3 stages of the money lifecycle in games? Most games operate with a traditional one-way transaction flow: a player spends money to purchase an in-game item. Modern game economies are quickly evolving beyond more than just checkout. Player engagement and monetization opportunities exist every time value enters the economy, when it moves back and forth between players, and when players and creators cash out for the value they helped create. Money In. Money Around. Money Out. If you're not leveraging the full lifecycle, you're leaving revenue on the table. ZBD provides one licensed financial layer, built for how game economies actually work. Learn more: https://zbdpay.com/ #GamesIndustry #FinTech #GameDevelopment

Last week, Roblox unveiled Roblox Wallet, and this is the clearest sign to date that the games industry needs a 'real money' layer. Roblox's decision validates exactly what ZBD has been building over the past few years: financial infrastructure that moves real money in, through, and back out to players and creators. Here is how Roblox does it: earnings clear and pay out each business day into what Roblox calls a financial account, with funds moving to other Roblox accounts or an external bank; a Roblox card will follow in 2027. Roblox can afford to build this platform because they have the financial muscle to bend a business-payments platform to support the nuances of the games industry. Most publishers or games don't, and shouldn't have to. In almost every game that involves payments, money still flows one way. Real money becomes virtual currency, virtual currency becomes an asset, and that’s how it stops. Players and creators rarely get any value out of their time and effort. ZBD is the money layer that connects a game's economy with a real-money economy. We enable the realisation of value that has been earned in gameplay: it can move between players, get spent back in the game, or cash out to a bank or card, all in real time. Players and creators finally get paid for the value they create and the games start to earn commission. For anyone wanting to dig into the details, let’s talk. I attended the Sensor Tower Gaming sessions on Tuesday at Gamescom. Roblox came up in every session, never the same way twice. It also came into other dialogues including with mod platforms. What was missing was where the creator/player actually goes next. One panel reached for the blogger who becomes a feature film maker - the creator graduating to the bigger, more professional format. In games that breaks down. A Roblox creator is much more agile than that path allows. Shorter build cycles, faster iteration, and a far quicker route to revenue. Asking them to trade that for a multi-year studio bet is asking them to slow down. So I don't think the story is Roblox creators becoming developers necessarily. That's the obvious version. I think they mod as well as play - creating inside games that already exist, at volume - and they bring the Roblox expectation with them: this is paid work, not free labour for kudos. That's the culture shock I wrote about. Link below.
We asked the Mobile Mavens to share what stood out to them at this year’s Gamescom event. From the growing competition for players' attention, to the strength of the indie scene and the rise of emerging markets. Here are some snippets of what the Mavens had to say: “The quality bar has never been higher: studios are launching increasingly polished games, while competing for the same players, attention and acquisition channels.” - Claire Rozain “The money is paying attention to indies again. Why? Because the definition of a “big game” has changed.” - Mor Aviram “As Roblox developers inevitably expand into native mobile, PC, and console platforms, the question is whether traditional gaming spaces are ready for the possible culture shock.” - Gordon Thornton “We've seen the balance of the industry shift slightly away from the Americas and Japan to give voice to a wider range of regions, and gamescom really showed this change off.” - Mahmoud Ziater “The show floor has essentially become a marketing channel.” - Louise Wooldridge Read the full article for the rest of the insights. https://lnkd.in/eve7y-gk
