October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and October 19–23 marks the Week Without Violence—a global YWCA movement dedicated to ending violence against women, girls and people of color. This year, the YWCA Greater Harrisburg is bringing the community together on the golf course to support life-changing Violence Intervention and Prevention programs. 🏌️ Week Without Violence Golf Tournament 📅 Friday, October 23, 2026 ⏰ 10 a.m.–Noon 📍 Country Club of Harrisburg Your participation helps support critical services including our 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, safety planning, counseling, legal advocacy, court and medical accompaniment, support for children and teens, and community prevention and education. However, the facts are that DV can be physical, emotional, financial, and psychological. Abuse may look like constant criticism, manipulation, controlling access to money, online stalking, threatening messages, or sharing private images without consent. Not all abuse leaves visible bruises, but all abuse can have lasting impacts. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let's expand our understanding of abuse and help create communities built on respect, safety, and healthy relationships. #domesticviolenceawareness #DVAM26 #YWCA

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we're proud of offer Beyond the Call: Advanced Domestic Violence Response, a three-hour training session for first responders and front line professionals. In partnership with HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, this training will feature valuable insights from the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office and Swatara Township Police Department.
