About us

Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work. To be a Scout isn‘t just to be a part of a company, it‘s to be a visionary and a leader, someone who seeks new paths and imparts lessons learned to others, leading them forward to new horizons. Here at Scout Motors, we‘re carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960, one that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and will do so once again. Together with the help of our community, we’re designing, engineering, and building the next generation of electric trucks and rugged SUVs for the doers and the ones who can’t be held back. For the ones who roll up their sleeves, push forward, endure the elements, and get the job done. No frills, no excuses, no quitting. We are growing every day and are seeking the next generation of Scouts to join our ranks. So, to all the hard workers out there, the ones who are willing to carry on the Scout legacy, reimagine an American icon, create jobs for Americans, and lead the charge into the future of electric trucks and rugged SUVs, we‘re calling on you to join us. Because #TheWorldNeedsScouts.

  • For National Manufacturing Day, we welcomed high school students from across the South Carolina Midlands to our Scout Motors Training Center in Blythewood. Not just to hear about modern manufacturing, but to get their hands on it. They put real manufacturing skills into practice, met the team doing the work, explored careers in the industry, and got an up-close view of our Scout® Traveler™ concept vehicle. For some, it was their first glimpse of what a career in manufacturing could be. That’s exactly why days like this matter. There’s no single path into this industry – whether it’s a four-year degree, two-year program, technical training, or straight into the workforce. What matters is giving young people a chance to see the possibilities, especially the ones taking shape right here at home. Thanks to the students, educators, and volunteers from Richland School District One, Richland School District 2, Fairfield County School District, Lexington County School District One, Lexington School District Two, Lexington County School Dist 3, Lexington School District Four, and Lexington-Richland School District Five who spent the morning with us. We’re building the future of American manufacturing in South Carolina. And we’d bet a few of the people who will help carry it forward walked through our doors today.

  • For Jared Schaab, Frontend Senior Software Engineer, some of the most meaningful moments as a team member happen outside of the code. When people find out he works at Scout Motors, Jared shared that, "Their eyes light up and they sometimes share a little story about how their dad or other family members had a Scout and how they loved the car. Those interactions really highlight that this is more than just a car company." From hearing firsthand how deeply the Scout® brand resonates with generations of enthusiasts to helping launch our website ahead of our national reveal, Jared is playing a role in bringing an icon back to life. • As summer gave way to a new school year, Scouts across our sites in the Carolinas and Michigan came together to help students start strong.   In North Carolina, team members rolled up their sleeves at Classroom Central's Backpacks & Basics event, helping unpack and organize supplies that ultimately supported the packing of more than 30,000 backpacks for local students.   In South Carolina, employees filled shopping carts with notebooks, folders, backpacks, pencils, and markers as part of United Way's Ready, Set, Supply! initiative, while volunteers also supported Richland School District Two's Back-to-School Bash and welcomed families at Muller Road Middle School, helping students find classrooms, navigate schedules, and begin the year with confidence.   Meanwhile, in Metro-Detroit Michigan, Scouts spent a day at Fisher Elementary School preparing classrooms for students' return, cleaning lockers, sanitizing learning spaces, polishing windows, and donating school supplies to local families.   Different communities. Different projects. One shared commitment.   From packing backpacks and collecting supplies to preparing school facilities and welcoming students through the front doors, Scouts showed up in meaningful ways to support local families and educators. Together, these volunteer efforts helped create thousands of positive first-day experiences and reinforced our belief that strong communities help build bright futures.

  • When it comes to engaging with the community, "it's not just because we need to; it's because we want to." That's the position of Clarice Henderson, Scout Motors Vice President of HR, Production, and it's a position we share as an organization.   We're proud to see Clarice featured on the MidlandsBiz Who's On The Move Entrepreneur Minute podcast. During the interview, Clarice shared Scout Motors' vision for what we're building in South Carolina and delved into hard work already being done to build a robust, capable team of Production and Maintenance associates in Blythewood.   By sharing our story openly and detailing the opportunities we're bringing to the Midlands, Clarice is helping our team Move with Intent in South Carolina. Thanks to Alan Cooper for hosting this excellent conversation.   Give the podcast a listen: https://lnkd.in/gmK2KAhj

  • More than 250 Maintenance and Production Associates have joined our team in Blythewood. We gathered in the Training Center yesterday to celebrate that milestone, but the real story isn't the number itself. It's the people behind it and the culture they're already building together.   As certificates were handed out and welcome boxes were opened, what stood out most was the sense of purpose in the room. The handshakes between teammates meeting for the first time. The pride on people's faces. The kind of easy conversations that happen when people are excited to be there.   From the classroom to the shop floor, this team is already bringing our Scout Way values to life. They're learning new skills, building relationships, and helping create the culture that will define this place for years to come. Laying the foundation for those who will follow in their footsteps.   The vehicles we'll build here matter. But first, we're building a team. More than 250 strong, with many more to come. And this story is only getting started.

  • Before the first bell rings, a backpack can make all the difference. Over the past several weeks, Scout Motors' South Carolina employees added a few extra items to their shopping carts, picking up notebooks and folders and gathering backpacks, pencils, markers, and other classroom essentials — all with one goal in mind: helping local students walk into their classrooms with confidence, equipped with the tools they need to succeed.   Last week, those donations were delivered to United Way as part of the Ready, Set, Supply! initiative, while also showing up to support Richland School District 2's Back to School Bash.    Thank you to our volunteers and partners for leading these important initiatives and helping connect community support with local needs. Because when students start the year equipped with the proper supplies, they're better positioned to engage, achieve, and reach their full potential.
