  • A career in veterinary medicine doesn’t have to follow one path. For Dr. Beth Witte-Neuman, DVM, it’s included overnight emergency medicine, building and growing veterinary hospitals, and ultimately discovering a new passion in mentorship. In a recent episode of My Veterinary Life, Dr. Neuman shares how staying open to unexpected opportunities helped shape her career—and eventually led her to what she calls her “dream job” as Senior Director of Mentorship at NVA. At NVA, we believe career growth isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether you want to deepen your skills in practice, step into leadership, become a mentor, own a practice or discover an entirely new path, there’s room to grow in the direction that’s right for you. 🎧 Listen to Dr. Neuman’s story: https://bit.ly/4h7HrGE #NVAGeneralPractice #VeterinaryCareers #CareerDevelopment #VeterinaryMedicine #Mentorship

Our commitment to leading the future of veterinary medicine is clear. The future of veterinary medicine starts with the people: the clinicians learning every day in our hospitals, the teams creating better experiences for clients and pets, and the leaders across NVA who are asking what more is possible. As NVA advances the next phase of its strategy, we are strengthening how we develop our people, test new ideas and translate what we learn into better care, better experiences and new possibilities.  We have selected Patrick Welch DVM, MBA, DACVO to lead National Veterinary Associates (NVA)'s Clinical Learning & Capability and Enterprise Innovation team as our Chief Learning & Innovation Officer, connecting workforce development, learning science and emerging technology with how we evaluate, test and adopt new approaches to veterinary care. Dr. Welch brings a unique combination of clinical, entrepreneurial and organizational experience to the role. A board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, he is the founder and CEO of VetBloom and most recently served as Head of Innovation and Clinical Learning at Ethos Veterinary Health, where his work has included the creation of enterprise competency frameworks, new models of clinical and professional development, and a growing innovation portfolio spanning artificial intelligence, digital credentials and new models of care. Congratulations, Dr. Welch.

National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day is a good reminder that preventive care can make a meaningful difference long before something feels wrong. In our latest article, we sat down with Dr. Angela Smith, who shares why routine veterinary visits are so important for cats, who can be remarkably good at hiding signs of illness, and how regular care can help identify changes earlier. It’s one more way veterinary teams help pets and the people who love them have more quality years together. Read the article and, if your cat is due for a visit, consider this your reminder to get it on the calendar. 🐱 #NationalTakeYourCatToTheVetDay #VeterinaryMedicine #CatHealth #PreventiveCare

  • After a kitten was thrown from a moving car, the NVA Heroes at Riverview Animal Hospital came together to save his life. Bleeding badly from his face and head, the kitten was alert but clearly in pain. Dr. Natasha Medici performed a thorough exam, and the team got to work. Word of the kitten's story spread fast on social media. By the end of the day, at least five individuals and one local nonprofit had donated toward his treatment. "The community was astonished and angry that someone could be so cruel as to throw any animal, let alone a small kitten, from a moving vehicle," Elise Riley, Assistant Hospital Manager, shared. "But the generosity of our donors and the general response from our community was a reminder that there is good in the world." Since then, he's found his forever home and has been back for routine kitten wellness visits. Now he spends his days snuggling with his new family, dogs included. 📸: NVA GP's Riverview Animal Hospital in Durango, CO Erin Farrell Brittany McDonald
