NICE's RAMPS communities build workforce partnerships across cybersecu rity's many different disciplines. For Texas Tech University, the target is the dynamic and economically vital field of cyber-physical systems (CPS). A 2023 RAMPS awardee, Texas Tech leads the West Texas Cyber Workforce Development Consortium (WTCWDC), supported by ten other partners including employers, other universities, and the Department of Energy’s Sandia National Laboratories. A total of 63 participants have completed WTCWDC’s intensive, industry-driven Critical Infrastructure Security Training Program. The no-cost training is open to students and industry professionals alike and incorporates best practices in hybrid and hands-on learning, including embedded industry certifications from CompTIA. In addition to its home campus in Lubbock, Texas Tech has also organized cohorts in nearby Amarillo. "Our RAMPS program helped us expand cybersecurity workforce development across the Lubbock and Canyon regions of West Texas,” says Prof. Manohar Chamana of Texas Tech University's Renewable Energy Program (TTU Renewable Energy). “The program has enhanced our capacity to deliver practical, hands-on training in operational technology, industrial control systems, and cyber-physical security." WTCWDC's broad network of industry partners, including South Plains College, Farmers Electric Cooperative, Inc., Apex Clean Energy, and NextEra Energy, Inc. doesn't just provide employer connections for program participants. It also ensures that the partnership can address a wide variety of technologies from different parts of the energy sector, tailoring their #NICE Framework-aligned curriculum to business needs. Texas Tech will present their work at our next meeting of the CCC in November. In the meantime, check out their program page—including their full curriculum and links to training resources—in the comments
