  • This summer, we welcomed our first-ever Finance Intern, William Rigney-Carroll. Our next Finance Intern already has a problem: Will set the bar pretty high. He jumped in, learned quickly, adapted to whatever we put in front of him, and brought real energy to the team. He asked smart questions, took ownership, welcomed feedback, and got better throughout the summer. That’s exactly what Growth looks like at Midwest Cards. Beyond the work, Will became part of the team. We trusted him, enjoyed having him around, and are better for the time he spent with us. Thanks for a great summer, Will. We loved having you here. #MidwestCards #TeamMWC #FinanceIntern #Growth

  • Four weeks ago we welcomed our very first intern, William Rigney-Carroll, a finance student at Purdue, into the finance team for the summer. Quick update on how it's going. We decided up front: Learning First. William is in the actual systems, running real reconciliations. He's digging into the operational finance problems behind our multi-channel retail business and creating solutions. William is working on implementing inventory binning, and even running the backend of one of the largest card shows in the state. A month in, two things stand out. He asks sharp questions, and he doesn't wait around for the next task. William, glad to have you on board! 😊 #Finance #Internships #Columbus #WeLoveCards

Last month I joined Midwest Cards as their AI Systems Engineer. If you haven't been paying attention to the trading card world lately — it's having a moment. Pokémon, sports, Magic. Live selling on TikTok and Whatnot. Card shows packed wall to wall. A hobby that used to live in basements and binders is now a multi-billion dollar industry moving at the speed of internet culture. Midwest Cards sits right in the middle of it. E-commerce, live selling, foot traffic, card shows — multiple channels, all moving fast, all generating signal. And honestly? A bar and kitchen attached to the shop, because why not. What pulled me in: → The space itself — operationally complex, culturally alive, and wide open for AI → The runway — there is so much cool stuff to build here, and the team is ready to create a unique experience for our customers → The people — passionate, sharp, and fun to be around. The kind of group where ideas turn into products. I've spent the past few years learning how to leverage AI for building custom web experiences, apps, and integrations — and now I have the opportunity to do just that. More to come. For now — grateful to be here, excited for what's next. #aiSystemsEngineer #midwestCards #tradingCards #reWrittenByAI
