🌐Indonesia’s New Food Packaging Regulation: Key Compliance Changes Indonesia has overhauled its food packaging regulations, introducing significant new compliance requirements for food contact substances (#FCSs) and food packaging materials. Businesses that manufacture, import, or market food-contact materials in Indonesia should begin assessing the impact now, particularly given the regulation's 12-month transition period. 📌 Key updates under Indonesia's new BPOM Regulation No. 11 of 2026 include: • Expanded and more detailed migration testing requirements • New substance-specific migration limits for heavy metals and significantly lower limits for BPA and melamine • Continued use of Indonesia's positive-list system, with updated permitted and prohibited FCS lists • Enhanced data and documentation requirements for obtaining approval of new food contact substances not currently listed • A 12-month transition period from June 30, 2026, providing businesses time to evaluate formulations, testing protocols, and supporting documentation These changes could require manufacturers, suppliers, and brand owners to reassess product formulations, testing programs, compliance documentation, and market access strategies for food-contact materials sold in Indonesia. 💡Read the full article from Keller and Heckman LLP’s Shanghai team here: https://lnkd.in/eiv-YdVY #FoodPackaging #FoodContactMaterials #FCM #RegulatoryCompliance #Indonesia #FoodLaw

🌎 Court Denies Intervention Request in SB 343 Challenge A new procedural ruling has added another chapter to the ongoing challenge to California’s SB 343 “Truth in Recycling” law. The Court has denied efforts by two environmental groups to join the litigation, while leaving the door open for them to participate in a more limited role. 💡Key takeaways: - The Court found that California’s Attorney General can adequately represent their interests in the case - The groups may still participate by filing amicus briefs - Any appeal of the ruling could further delay proceedings ⚖️As the legal challenge moves forward, businesses that make recyclability claims or market products in California should continue monitoring developments closely, as the outcome could have significant implications for packaging and sustainability communications.
