Our condolences go out to the family and friends of whistleblower Simon Andriesz, following the incredibly sad news of his passing. We've asked non-executive director Lea Paterson to review how we interacted with Mr Andriesz, to see whether we could have done things better and learn for the future. It's important that people feel confident coming to us with their concerns and we’re grateful so many do.

We enable a fair and thriving financial services market for the good of consumers and the economy.
About us
We enable a fair and thriving financial services market for the good of consumers and the economy. We do this by: - Regulating the conduct of approximately 50,000 businesses - Prudentially supervising 48,000 firms Our Head Office is based in London, and we have offices in Edinburgh and Leeds. Firms and individuals must be authorised or registered by us to carry out certain activities. Before we grant authorisation, firms must demonstrate that they meet a range of requirements. We then supervise these firms to make sure they continue to meet our standards and rules after they’re authorised. If firms and individuals fail to meet these standards, we have a range of enforcement powers we can use.

Money mules help criminals move and hide the proceeds of fraud and other financial crime. Although firms are closing increasing numbers of suspected mule accounts, fraudulent funds are often moved through multiple accounts before being cashed out, making them harder to detect and trace. We found accounts being used repeatedly and across different fraud types, suggesting established criminal infrastructure rather than isolated incidents Firms must act earlier, regularly review their controls and make effective use of data and intelligence sharing to tackle this evolving threat. Alongside the National Economic Crime Centre (NECC), we’re alerting firms to our latest findings and working with industry to strengthen intelligence sharing. #FightingFinancialCrime #FinancialRegulation

Our Chief Executive Nikhil Rathi visited Swindon to hear how financial services can support local communities and businesses. He met community banks, Swindon Borough Council and Nationwide Building Society to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the local financial services industry and the importance of strong regional hubs. At the TEKEVER Swindon factory, he discussed the role of advanced technology firms in driving UK growth, as well as the responsible development of AI and autonomous technologies. Nikhil also met RWE to hear how financial services support renewable energy projects and the challenges affecting investment and competitiveness. These conversations help us understand local needs, protect consumers and support growth across the UK. #FinancialServices #FinancialRegulation #HelpingConsumers #FCAGrowth #AI #RenewableEnergy

Crypto firms can now apply for FCA authorisation, bringing the UK a step closer to becoming one of the world's most trusted places to invest in cryptoassets. Firms that want to continue operating in the UK should apply by 28 February 2027, ahead of new rules coming into force on 25 October 2027. This is a major milestone for the industry and investors alike, strengthening consumer protection, market integrity and financial resilience, while giving crypto firms the clarity that comes with regulatory framework. Watch our video for top tips on preparing your application. #FCAGrowth #SmarterRegulator #Cryptoassets #FinancialRegulation

FCA officers today joined with the Metropolitan Police in an operation against a suspected organised crime group. In total, more than 800 officers took part in dawn raids at 24 properties. The Met has arrested 17 people for a variety of offences. As part of the wider operation, the FCA has disrupted 7 firms and are actively pursuing a further 30. Tackling financial crime requires the type of partnership shown by today’s joint action and the many months of close cooperation leading to it. We’ll continue to work with the police and others to identify and disrupt organised crime groups who abuse our financial system to launder dirty money. https://lnkd.in/eyZz4-_m #FightingFinancialCrime #FinancialRegulation

Victims of a £1.5m crypto investment fraud will get money back after we secured confiscation orders against Raymondip Bedi and Patrick Mavanga. The pair cold-called people and persuaded them to invest in fake cryptoasset opportunities, leaving at least 65 victims out of pocket. Bevi and Mavanga were jailed in 2025 following our prosecution. These orders will help recover funds for those they targeted. #FightingFinancialCrime #Crypto #InvestmentScam

Small businesses need access to finance at the right time to start up, grow and invest. 🪙 Our review found that FCA regulation isn’t a major barrier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access to finance. But we can take practical steps to remove unnecessary friction. We want the system to work as well as it can for smaller businesses and help unlock the benefits of open finance. #FCAGrowth #OpenFinance #FinancialServices
