🇮🇩 Sixty-two journalists and students in Indonesia sharpened their digital investigation skills from September 16-17 during AFP’s first-ever bootcamp in Indonesia. AFP Fact Check journalists Sophia Xu, Safrin L., Gemma Holliani Cahya, Felix Nathaniel and Ramadani Saputra led the two-day workshop in Greater Jakarta. They shared the latest tools and best practices to verify online information, identify AI deepfakes and find trustworthy sources, using modules from the award-winning AFP Digital Courses. In his opening remarks, Jakarta bureau chief Eric Bernaudeau highlighted the importance of AFP’s work countering misinformation in the digital age. 🔎 Participants from 12 media organisations and two universities in Indonesia worked through hands-on exercises and local case studies to enhance their digital investigation skills during major news events, such as the 2024 Indonesian elections and recent natural disasters. The bootcamp was supported by the Google News Initiative and the Universitas Multimedia Nusantara.

Following a series of international accolades, Inside Gaza has now qualified for the race for the Oscar for Best Documentary.
