Hiring a AI Data Engineer, Data Platform to join our team at  Collective. For those who aren’t familiar, Collective helps self-employed entrepreneurs with bookkeeping, taxes, and payroll so they can focus on running their businesses. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building reliable data systems and using them to answer meaningful product questions. You’ll work on pipelines and trusted datasets that support analytics and AI-driven tools, while partnering with teams to uncover insights and help shape product decisions. I’d love to work with someone who’s curious, takes initiative, and keeps asking “why” until they get to the bottom of a problem. Someone who enjoys learning, brings ideas to the table, and follows through to make things better. If that sounds like you and you enjoy a fast-moving, collaborative environment, I’d love to chat! We’re looking for someone with 5+ years of relevant experience, so this isn’t a new-grad opening. The role is hybrid in San Francisco. Feel free to DM me or apply through the link below. And if someone in your network comes to mind, please send this their way! https://lnkd.in/g8CrjcuF

Excited to announce Scale Your Dev Tool, a hands-on virtual workshop for founders building dev tools 🚀 Two things quietly eat dev tool margin: paying frontier prices for work a SLM does better, and not showing up when an agent picks the tool. We’re fixing that on Thursday, September 3 - bring your actual product, we’ll work through it live. • ScaleDown will audit your AI workflow to see what it actually costs • Gauge will check whether agents are recommending your tool, and implementing it right when they do • Collective will help you protect those savings as a solo founder Apply via the link in the comments 👇

  • This piece from Entrepreneur nails something we see every day. The author's test before every hire is to ask whether this job is mostly judgment or mostly repetition? If it's repetition, automate it first and then see what's left. Most of the time, what's left doesn't need a full-time person. For solopreneurs, this has always been a - sometimes fatal - problem. You never planned to hire a bookkeeper, payroll manager, tax accountant, or a compliance officer. But the work those roles do still has to get done. And for most self-employed people, that means doing it themselves, taking more time away from actually working on their passions. We're proud that Collective members save an average of $10,000 a year in taxes because of our platform handling entity structure, bookkeeping, payroll, taxes (and now insurance!) They didn't hire a finance director, accountant, or HR manager. They redirected that budget into their actual business. The ROI of AI for solopreneurs is the team you never had to build. https://lnkd.in/dqai-QNN #Solopreneur #BusinessOfOne #AI #FutureOfWork

  • A fascinating story from CBS News and Stations this week: Gen Z business applications jumped 66% in June compared with a year ago. The next generation isn't waiting around for the labor market to get better, they're building. Lower-income households now account for 25% of all new businesses getting off the ground, up from 20% in 2020. Entrepreneurship is democratising in a way it never has before thanks to AI. What used to cost $15,000 and 3 months of developer time can now be built over a weekend. The barriers to entry are collapsing and the generation that grew up digital is taking full advantage. We'd add to the article that starting the business is only the beginning. The part that still trips people up - the entity structure, the taxes, the back office - hasn't democratized at the same pace, which is the gap Collective is closing. The infrastructure for the Business-of-One has never been better and the generation building it has never been more capable. https://lnkd.in/gnw2BbTm #Solopreneur #GenZ #BusinessOfOne #Entrepreneurship #FutureOfWork

  • Still thinking about our Collective Annual Summit in San Francisco a few weeks ago 🌉🤍 There is nothing quite like getting the entire team together in one room. As a distributed team, the energy, laughter, and high-fives mean so much more when we get to share them in person. Across the week, we aligned on our strategic vision and where we are heading next, collaborated across functions to solve big challenges for the self-employed community, and celebrated our wins, our team members, and the culture we’re building together. Leaving SF, the takeaway was a deep appreciation for the incredible people making it happen every day. Huge thank you to everyone who made this week so unforgettable. Already counting down to the next one!

  • On Friday's jobs report, we learned the US economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, missing forecasts by over 100,000. May and June were also revised down by a combined 103,000. The labor force participation rate fell to 61.4%, a five-year low. And the unemployment rate ticked down to 4.1%. But economists are quick to note that's not good news as it reflects people leaving the labor force, not finding jobs. But the nonfarm payroll survey - the number that just moved markets - excludes every single one of the 30 million self-employed Americans. This means that the fastest-growing segment of the US workforce is invisible in the data. At Collective, we see that economy every day. Business formations are up, solopreneur incomes are growing, and the people leaving the labor force aren't disappearing, many of them are building something. The jobs report is an important snapshot, but it's an incomplete one. And right now, the part it's missing is the part that's actually growing. https://lnkd.in/dagw4bxk #JobsReport #Solopreneur #FutureOfWork
